Cristiano Ronaldo & Emmanuel Adebayor pay homage to PK Subban & Carey Price

This goal celebration as Real Madrid routed Sevilla on May 7th was oddly reminiscent of the Montreal Canadians young stars triple low five mixed in with the shoulder bump they used to celebrated their clinching of a playoff spot against the Chicago Blackhawks (Both videos can be found below). This raises the interesting question are Real Madrid sitting around late at night watching NHL hockey games?

Puck drop at Habs games would not be until midnight local time in Spain, and the post match celebrations would not come for some two and a half hours. The Spanish do have a reputation for going deep into the night, but surely a bit of sleep before a big match would not hurt, though they did go on to beat Athletic Bilbao four days later . That Habs game was played on April 5th, the same night Real Madrid hammered Tottenham Hotspur 4-0 at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu.

But if true that Madridistas are big fans of the hockey club from Montreal, it is no shock they ended up conceding an important series to their hated, long time rivals, Barcelona, who took the Spanish Liga and advanced to the UEFA Champions League Final at Real’s expense, as Montreal were beat out by the Boston Bruins in 7 in the first round of this year’s playoffs.
